Why Destroy Data On-site?
Any data that is still intact after a piece of electronic equipment is retired from the data center is at risk of being exposed, which could lead to a data breach. Even after assets have been removed from your data center, companies are still responsible for the security of collected data.
Don't put yourself in jeopardy. Ensure that your data is destroyed before IT assets leave your premises if security is a priority. Transporting material is no longer a source of data risk.
In order to protect our clients' sensitive data, GP offers a variety of services for erasing it. We help you meet regulatory requirements for data protection and avoid penalties for lack of compliance.
GP provides data destruction solutions for the following:
- Storage area networks (SAN)
- Network area storage (NAS)
- Magnetic drives
- Solid state drives
- Backup tapes

How It Is Done
Erasing a hard drive instead of physically destroying it allows for its reuse. Customers are able to redeploy or resell erased hard drives. This can be an important cost factor to consider. Hard drive erasure is an excellent method for destroying data and preventing its recovery. GP supports the deletion of both removable and internal drives.
Degaussing or crushing hard drives provides a quick method for their physical destruction.
The hard drive is destroyed through degaussing by applying a significant magnetic charge. The magnetic charge erases data from the hard drive immediately. Please be aware that degaussing only works on magnetic media (magnetic hard drives and backup tapes).
When crushing hard drives with a hard drive crusher, sufficient force is applied to fracture the hard drive platters. Crushing is effective for magnetic and solid-state drives when utilizing the appropriate-sized equipment.
Clients appreciate this efficient two-step process. Combining degaussing and crushing provides an additional layer of data protection.
At your data center, GP offers high-volume hard drive destruction services. Thousands of storage media can be shredded daily by vehicles equipped with hard drive shredders. Prior to destruction, hard drive serial numbers are scanned to facilitate final inventory reconciliation. Certificates of Data Destruction can be issued on the same day. Our mobile shredding service guarantees that your hard drives are completely obliterated and that all of your data is secure. Our trucks are equipped with the most advanced shredding technology in the industry, which reduces your data-bearing media to microscopic fragments and renders the data irretrievable.
Complementary Services
If our mobile shredding truck is dispatched to your data center, we can ship back 2-4 pallets of e-waste and IT assets for processing at a discounted rate.
